(like fruit juice etc.) together with pastry (like cookies and
crackers). People will not mind skipping lunch if they can
have one or two pieces of crackers or cookies with a sip of a
drink. You are recommended to arrange the activities
without lunch break because this will help you to finish the
activities sooner without keeping people for too long until
they start starving. But the important issue is that this has to
planned in advance and things arranged accordingly.
III. The Afternoon of the Olympic Games
A. Preparation for administering Anzan competition.
Anzan adjustment of difficulty levels step by step must be
planned in advance. Naturally the beginning levels will be
one-digit numbers with a reasonable speed. The level
should be increased with every 4 questions. The difficulty
can be increased either by increasing the number (eg. from
10 to 12 numbers) or by decreasing the time (eg. from 900
ms to 800 ms) or by increasing the digits (eg. from 1-digit
to 2-digit numbers). You need plan in advance to arrange a
nice smooth transition from the easy to more difficult
levels. The teacher who is in charge of using the Anzan
program has to have this plan written clearly in front of
her, so that she can increase the difficulty level according
to this plan.
B. Administering Anzan Competition
1. Depending on the number of students, you can
administer Anzan separately for First Graders and Second
Graders in two sessions. Or it is possible to administer
Anzan in one mixed session of both first and second
graders.
